Humble Pie

Humble Pie was made from the numbles of deer.
Which were basically the offal, the cheap cuts.
From the Middle English: nombles fillet of venison,
which in turn is a dissimilated variation of lomble
from the latin lumbulus
itself a diminutive of lumbus loin.



Humble Pie was also a band in the sixties,
with Steve Marriott and Peter Frampton.
and very good they were too.
